Miles Watson - You're my everything 1982

Miles Watson was an unknown singer. In 1982 he released a single entitled " You're my everything " on Profile records (First recording by Santa Esmeralda in 1977 on Casablanca records). Horn solo by Don Hahn. Produced by Eric Matthew. In 1983 he sang as backing singer for Lonnie Liston Smith . Also this single was released as a 12 incher. David - I'd be a millionaire 1975

Dave Crawford was mostly known as producer and composer rather than a singer. He collaborated with many groups and great artists such as The Mighty Clouds of Joy, Jackie Moore, Candi Staton, Jimmy “Bo” Horne, Atlanta Disco Band, The Sweet Inspirations, Esther Phillips and many others. He composed the famous song “ Young Hearts Run Free ” of Candi Staton. In 1975 he released a single entitled “ I’d be a millionaire ” on Scorpio records. David Crawford 's 1975 remake of his rare 60s Northern Soul dancer self wrote recording of this great song. This single was included on the album Dave Crawford’s entitled “ Here am I ” in 1978. Rumple-Stilts-Skin 1981

Rumple-Stilts-Skin is an unknown group from the Ohio scene. Two of the members are the McCants brothers . Chris and Sam were full time members of the group Chicago Gangsters in the album “ Life is not easy…without you ” in 1979. Chris on drums and Sam on piano,organ, guitar and vocals. The majority of the songs were written by the McCants brothers ( Leroy , James , Chris and Sam), as were all productions. Chris and Sam McCants went on to form Rumple-Stilt-Skin along with Carl McCaskey (guitar) and Phil Maxwell (sax) and two other short-lived members Sherry Kaye and Nobi Weaver . They recorded an album in 1981 on Heat records. Produced by Chris and Sam McCants. From this album I chose two tracks entitled “ Forever ” and “ I need you ”. I want to mention that  “ I need you ” was released as a sinlge on Heat Records and Creat Records on the same year. Benny Golson - I'm always dancin' to the music 1978

Some days ago I saw the film entitled “ One terminal ”. Benny Golson played along with Tom Hanks appearing in the last scene of the movie. For this reason, I decided to post this album by Benny Golson. Multitalented and internationally famous jazz legend, - a composer, arranger, lyricist, producer - and tenor saxophonist of world note, Benny Golson was born in Philadelphia, PA on January 25, 1929. He recorded this album in 1978 on CBS records. I chose three tracks entitled " Love is the key ", " High on sunshine " and " Don't ask my neighbors ". Lead vocal on "Love is the key" by Mortonette Jenkins and lead vocal on "High on sunshine" by James Gadson . All saxophone solos by Benny Golson. Produced by Benny Golson and George Butler . Michael Henderson - Goin' places 1977

Vocalist/bassist Michael Henderson has enjoyed successful careers as a player and performer. He moved from Yazoo City, Mississippi to Detroit in the early '60s, and was a session player. As a 13-year-old, Henderson played bass with the Fantastic Four, Detroit Emeralds, Billy Preston, and other Motown acts in 1964 and 1965. He later toured with Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin before joining Miles Davis. Henderson played and toured with Davis for seven years. When he met drummer/producer Norman Connors, Henderson pitched him some songs. Connors recorded " Valentine Love " on his Saturday Night Special LP, featuring Henderson with Jean Carne. This was his vocal debut, and it reached number ten on the R&B chart. Henderson wrote two other hits for the LP, "We Both Need Each Other" and "You Are My Starship," which peaked at number four. Those successes landed Henderson his own Buddah deal in 1976. He recorded the first solo album in 1976 entitled “ Sol

Pauline Wilson

Pauline Wilson is a jazz singer, born and raised in Hawaii. She won the "Best Recording for Children" Grammy Award in 1979 for her duet "Friends" with George Benson, part of the album In Harmony/A Sesame Street Record. She was also lead singer for the jazz/fusion band Seawind. Pauline Wilson was married with Bob Wilson. Bob was drummer and composer by Seawind. Pauline and Bob recorded one gospel album in 1981. In 1994 she released her first solo album entitled " Intuition " on Noteworthy records. From this album I chose a track entitled " Back again,back in love ". Solo sax by Brandon Fields. Joyce Faison

Joyce Faison is female singer from Chicago. She sang for Rockie Robbins as backing vocal on the album 1979 entitled “Rockie Robbins” on A&M. In 1981 she released on Erect Records 7 incher entitled “Do you wanna dance / Talking ‘bout love”. Produced by Jim Porter. At the same time , the label released an album entitled “ Love fire ”, but it was released as Faison and not as Joyce Faison. I haven’t seen any record by Joyce Faison until 2005 who sang for D.Ramirez as lead vocal. She also participated on the gospel group “ The Chicago Spirituals ”. Tenderness - Love slipping away 1978

Tenderness was an obscure, little-known disco funk group that recorded for RCA records in 1978. They recorded only four songs. RCA records released two 45s in 1978 entitled " Gotta keep on trying / Telly love " RCA 11175  and  " Love slipping away / Music is for lovers " RCA 11339. David Sea - Angel (You're The Sunshine) 1982 (45)

He began singing as a youngster with the gospel group " The Johnson Harmonaires ", which also included his brother. He formed his own group called " David Sea & The Question Marks. As a solo soul singer, he recorded for the Hy-Tyde label two singles, one wonderful soul entitled “ Angel ” and one funky entitled “ Destiny ”. The product was good, but the record company was small. There were distribution problems. For this reason they were released in 1982 on T-Jaye Records. The single “ Angel ” was produced by Al Lewis. Executive producer by Ted Jarrett. Ted Jarrett is best known as a R&B songwriter and producer. He gospel record man for most of his life reorganized his T-Jaye Records label as a gospel label in 1982.  Note : The above posted tracks are not played in full

Willie Bobo - Hell of an Act to Follow 1978

Born William Correa, 28 February 1934, New York City, New York. Perhaps the best-known Latin jazz percussionist of the 1960s, Bobo was one of the key players who fused influences from Latin soul, rock, and jazz in the late 1960s and 1970s. In 1978 on Columbia records he recorded a great album entitled "Hell of an Act to Follow". In album participated Bobby Lyle on keyboards, Donny Beck on bass, Steven Guiterrez on drums, Roland Bautista on guitar. Oscar Brashear and Ronald King on trumpet and flugelhorn, Ernie Watts and Gary Herbig on saxophone and flute, Thurman Green on trombone. Lead vocal by Willie Bobo. Horn arrangements by Bobby Lyle. String arrangements by George Del Barrio. Produced by Wayne Henderson. I chose two tracks entitled " Keep That Same Old Feeling " (first recording by The Crusaders) and " Fairy Tales For Two ". The Five Heartbeats (Soundtrack)

The Five Heartbeats is a musical drama film directed by Robert Townsend, who co-wrote the script with Keenan Ivory Wayans. Distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film's main cast includes Townsend, Michael Wright, Leon Robinson, Harry J. Lennix, Tico Wells, Harold Nicholas of the Nicholas Brothers, and Diahann Carroll. The film was released to most North American audiences January 1, 1991 however it was not made available to audiences in other continents until 2002 when a DVD was released prior to another DVD release in 2006 for the film's 15th anniversary. A soundtrack for the film was released by Virgin Records featuring original music from both the film and those recorded by various artists (most predominately the Dells) for the soundtrack. "Both Nights Likes This" and "A Heart Is a House for Love" went on to become top 20 hits on the Hot Black Singles section of the US Billboard music charts. I have chosen two tracks. Marlon (The Magician) McClain

Marlon McClain was an original member of Pleasure . Marlon was the Band's acknowledged leader. He was a great guitarist (electric and acoustic guitar). He collaborated with keyboardist Jeff Lorber (Co-produce Jeff Lorber's album entitled "Soft space"in 1978). Marlon and Jeff had been known one another since 1972. Marlon recorded one and only album, released on Fantasy records in 1981. Horns arranged by Jerry Hey (was member of Seawind). Produced by Marlon McClain and Phil Kaffel. I chose two tracks entitled " Star of my life " and " Pastel ". Also he collaborated with funk group called " Shock " as co-producer, guitarist and background vocalist. Also he played for many artists of Pop/Rock in 80s. In 1985 guitarist Eric Fearman left from the group Dazz Band and was replaced by Marlon McClain. O C Smith - Together 1977

Born Ocie Lee Smith on June 21 in 1936 in Mansfield, Louisiana. OC Smith began as a jazz vocalist and later moved into country and R&B. The Louisiana vocalist was hired to replace Joe Williams in Count Basie's band in the early '60s after cutting some unsuccessful records for Cadence and others in the '50s. He sang with Basie's band from 1961 to 1963. Following a period where he sang country and even had a hit with "Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp," Smith moved into soul. His biggest hit was "Little Green Apples," which was number two on both the pop and R&B charts in 1968. His other big R&B single was "Daddy's Little Man," which reached number nine in 1969. Smith stayed on Columbia until 1974, but didn't score any more big records. He moved to Caribou in 1976 and recorded one album entitled "Together".
