Jimmy McCloud was unknown singer from Detroit. He had begun recordings in 1976. He released on Tribe Records single entitled “I blew it / Don’t make the angels cry”. It is very expensive and his style is northern soul. I haven’t seen other record by McCloud until 1982. He recorded on Corn Records and released single entitled “When love hits ya / When there’s love in your life”. Produced by R.Martin and Jimmy McCloud. I chose the ballad "When there's love in your life". Composed by R.Martin and R.Eaton.

Enjoy one of my favorite songs.

This private Christian/Gospel album was released on Daystar Records in 1979. Wings of Light was an obscure christian group. They recorded probably 3 albums. The second album was released on Christian Artist Records entitled “In different light” in 1982. The last album entitled “Alien” was distributed by Dayspring in Europe, but it seems that few copies actually made it rare. However it was different style (AOR) than the two first albums. They are Fred Heumann, Keith Boll, La Roy Cadiz, Ed Dechard, Steve Gabrielse, Patti Grover, Leann Hendrickson, Glen Holmen, Dave Mullins, Mike Ross, Larry Tardy and Jeff Taylor. Arranged by Clark Gassman, Bob Krogstad & Terry Winch. Produced by Stilwell.
I have chosen two tracks entitled "What a difference You've made in my life" (first recording by Ronnie Milsap in 1977) and "He loves you" (first recording by Seawind 1976).

This album is tot rare, but I love it.
Sérgio Santos Mendes is a Brazilian musician. He has released over thirty-five albums, and plays bossa nova heavily crossed with jazz and funk. In 1979 Sergio Mendes released on Elektra/Asylum Records one of his best albums, entitled "Magic Lady" which features appearances by Michael Sembello and Oscar Neves on guitar, Nathan Watts on bass, Tom Scott on sax, Chuck Findley on trumpet, Steve Forman on percussion and some vocalists such as Bonnie Amaro, Carol Rogers & Marieta Waters. Horn Arrangements by Greg Adams of Tower of Power. Produced & arranged by himself.
I chose two great tracks entitled "Lonely woman" and "Summer dream". Enjoy them.
Gregory Bibb started his musical career in the early 70s, as composer, musician and producer/director. He formed the group “Gregory James Edition”, along with guitarist James Norris (he was godfather of son Gregory Bibbs) and drummer Anthony McAllister . They recorded an album entitled “Prophets of Soul” on Dakar Records in 1972.
Then Gregory served as musical director for Chi-sound artist Walter Jackson and Gene Chandler during their Chi-sound years. Especially in 1977 he played electric piano on the Walter Jackson’s album entitled “I Want To Come Back As A Song” on Chi-Sound Records.
Later in 1979 on Kelli-Arts Records Gregory Bibb only with James Norris, recorded an album entitled “Gonna Grow Some Gold”. The style of the album was disco and modern soul, nicely funky in the rhythm section, and with plenty of cool keyboards on the best cuts! Producer was Carl Davis.
From this album I have chosen a track entitled "Happy baby".
In 1984, he recorded his first solo album entitled “Touching me” on Music of Magnificent Mile Records (M.O.M.M). James Norris helped Gregory on the production. All songs produced and written by Gregory Bibb and James Norris for Decade Productions. All saxophone solos by Ari Brown.
I chose two tracks entitled "Magic Love Bird" and "Touching me". Lead vocal Gregory Bibb. Female vocal on "Touching me" by Theresa Davis.
Gregory composed and scored music for three highly acclaimed documentary programs; 1994-"When she gets old", Midwest Regional Emmy winner for best documentary. "For the Children" , A 1995 WTTW production nominated for best documentary and music by the Midwest Regional Emmy Academy and "The Incredible Voyage of Capt. Bill Pinkney", winner of the 1995 Ace Cable award for best documentary and recipient of the prestigious Peabody award.
Gregory was the creative thrust behind Gregory Bibb Music Productions, A commercial production company providing original Music for radio and television commercials serving such clients as NASDAQ Stock Exchange, American Resort Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Maple Furs, Old Style Beer, and many others.
Gregory held a plethora of positions, including Music Director; Kennedy-King College Outreach Theatre Program, Assistant A&R Director; Chi sounds United Artist Records, Cultural Urban Arts Coordinator; City of Chicago, and Music Instructor; Chicago Public Schools.
Whether performing, teaching, or working in the studio, Gregory was always challenging his creativity and striving for the top.
He was born in the gospel "hotbed" of Detroit, Michigan. Moore's professional break came in 1974 at the James Cleveland Gospel Music Workshop of America held in Chicago, Illinois. It was here that he received the Thurston Frazier Scholarship Award. That same year he recorded his first album, "I Thank You Master" with Savoy Records which garnered moderate success. Perhaps one of the greatest moments in his life was the day he met Andre Crough. He was in California along with his producer “Gentry McCreary” when they went to Andrae’s house, so that he could sing a few songs for him. Then he recorded album 1981.
This album was released on Luminar Records in 1981 entitled “Brothers and Sisters, I’ll be praying for you”. Later it was released on Light Records in the same year.
Produced and arranged by Melvin D.Seals. I chose a track entitled "As a nation".
After three rare recordings, "God Can Do Anything" on Secret Records; "Something Old, Something New" on Sound of Gospel Records and "Jesus use me" on Yosiah Records, Rev. Moore returned to Malaco/Savoy to record "Rev. James Moore Live". This album reached the top ten of Billboard and Cashbox Magazine's top forty Spiritual charts. Selections such as "Bread of Heaven" and "He Was There All The Time" garnered him a Stellar Award in 1989 for Best Solo Performance-Male Vocalist, Traditional. This same album received a nomination from the GMWA Excellence Awards.
His guest appearance on the Mississippi Mass Choir's debut album certainly contributed to the phenomenal success it achieved - forty-eight weeks at number one, four Stellar Awards, three GMWA Excellence Awards, three Dove Nominations, and one Soul Train Award nomination.
It's been said that turnabout is fair play. With the Mississippi Mass Choir's reciprocating appearance on his album, "Live with the Mississippi Mass Choir", turnabout turned in to great-play; as in air-play. Songs like "Joy", "We Worship Christ the Lord", and "God Will Take Care Of You" certified this project as a classic.
In March of 1991 Billboard Magazine confirmed that the album had achieved the #1 position in the country. This project also garnered Rev. Moore a Dove nomination and a Stellar Award for Best Gospel video.
The "Live In Detroit" project, recorded in his hometown, reached the #3 position on Billboard Magazine's Top 40 Gospel chart. It featured such classics as " I Stood on the Banks of Jordan" and "Old Rugged Cross".
Rev. Moore's 4th project, "I Will Trust in the Lord" reached the #4 postion on Billboard's Top 40 and received a Grammy nomination.

Also 2 soulful versions have been recorded of "Between hello and goodbye" by Society Of Seven in 1978 and The Stylistics in 1979.
This single is a fantastic song. It was recorded on Metro Records in the late 80s. Also this single is included on the album entitled “Lovers Holiday” in 1989. The original version of this song was recorded in 1977 by Arthur Prysock. Dink Perry is an original Breeze member on lead and background vocals and percussion. He sang all of the lead vocals on the Breeze Album Lover’s Holiday! Produced by Tim Eaton.

In June 1991, four members of The Entertainers said goodbye to the band and Hello to Dink Perry, lead vocalist of The Breeze Band to form what is now THE BREEZE.
The BREEZE has taken their strong writing and arranging talents and turned them into the first new BREEZE CD….SOMETHING SERIOUS 1995. In 1996 they came out with their second CD….SECOND WIND, which won the number one Beach song and Broadcast song of the year at the 96 Cammy Awards. Hello my friends. I uploaded this Blog because I love music. To me, music is a way of living. Through this space, I want to promote fine Soul, Funk and Jazz music (rare or not rare). Here you will find outstanding topics so you can enrich your knowledge and be entertained as well. Yet, I would like to complain because some bloggers share entire albums with others whether they have the records or have the tracks from other bloggers. I don’t think it’s fair for some of us to pay in order to buy the records and others to find them free through Blogs. Perhaps it’s not the same when someone owns a record compared to another who has only the tracks. But honestly I want you to answer to one question (not to me but to yourselves). Anyone of you – after a reasonable period of time – is capable of presenting them as their own stuff. Thanks.
For this reason I don’t share my tracks – you can listen to them only.
Also there are many collectors and bloggers who are after rare records without paying any attention on the quality of the tracks. (For example Nigerian Funk).
I would like to thank some special friends and people who helped me a great deal. First and foremost I want to thank my friend Nicolas Drosos who has been always a friend and a brother to me. Also special thanks go to George Polychroniou (G.Poly) a huge collector in Greece. My friend JR FUNK from France. Also to ANTONIO from Spain. Finally, I would like to thank a special gentleman from England for his unconditional help. THANKS JOHN FROM MY HEART.
Note: Some of the tracks related to rare topics on this Blog, are not going to be heard on the whole because they can easily be stolen thanks to today’s technology.
