Ray "Slyy" Latney - It's Your Day Sugar Ray 1980



Ray Slyy started out with Chuck Brown of The Soul Seachers. In 1980 he was influenced by Sugar Ray Leonard's matches with Roberto Duran. He wrote the song entitled "It's Your Day Sugar Ray". He launched his career when It was played on the airwaves during the Olympics.
It was recorded at Bias Recording Springfield. He released it as 7 inch on his own label called “Slyy’s Cabbit Inc”.
Also the song of the other side entitled “Someday” was dedicated to Minnie Riperton.

Then he collaborated with his cousin Frankie Beverly and Al Johnson. He released a single as Rayy Slyy entitled "Hey You (You Got To Give It Up)" on Salsoul Records in 1982. Frankie Beverly and Al Johnson helped him as arrangers. Produced by himself.

Great dedication to a great champion! I still remember listening to WOL radio when Glen Harris played the song to conclude his talk show on Thursday, September 17, 1981 (day after Hearns fight) and said " The greatest fighter in the world today: Sugar Ray Charles Leonard" ! Thanks for the memories, Ray !

The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). Sir James Randolph was born in Brewton Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he moved to New York where he attended and graduated from Long Island University. He started to sing in night clubs throughout the city. Then he was involved into Theater, Television & Film. Performing in Las Vegas and around the world, Sir James Randolph has become one of the most celebrated performers. Sir James Randolph made his only Broadway appearance as Sky Masterson in the 1976 all black company of " Guys and Dolls "   along   with   Robert Guillaume as Nathan Detroit,   Norma Donaldson as Miss Adelaide ,  Ernestine Jackson as Sarah Brown." Guys and Dolls " is a musical and was directed and choreographed by Billy Wilson. This production featured Motown-style musical arrangements by Danny Holgate and Horace Ott and direction by Billy Wilson. The show closed on February 13, 1977 after 239 performances and 12 previews.
