David Nelson Crawford

David Nelson Crawford (Flutist, Arranger, Composer, Producer) was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. After graduating from Centennial High School in Compton, California David received a full scholarship to California Institute of the Arts and received a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music with a Flute Major. He began his professional career as an orchestrator/Arranger for such artist as Friends of Distinction, Blue Magic, Sylvers, Patti Labelle, Freda Payne, Phyllis Hyman, Confunkshun, Gladys Knight, Mary J. Blige, The Whispers, Shalamar, Rene & Angela, Bobby Womack and many others just to name a few.
However his collaboration with the family band called Woods Empire was one of the best works he has ever done. He was producer on the album and he co-wrote an amazing song entitled "Universal Love". This song was included on the album in 1981 on Tabu Records. It was also released as a single on the same label.

This amazing song was written by Tommy Woods, David N.Crawford and Robert Russell.

I want to mention that as a flutist his professional career includes commercial recordings (Ahmad Jamal, Temptations & Vesta), TV commercials and Live performances with Stevie Wonder and Isaac Hayes. He has performed with the Santa Monica & Burbank Symphony Orchestras as well.
In 2007 he released a CD called "Shangri-La" on Jazzer Inc.

Note: The above posted single is not played in full.
# Today all the fans of soul music know this song and the album by Woods Empire. However how many people have seen this song released as a single ?
