Gregg Stevens - I'm so lucky 1977

Image
What can I say for this song ? I can't describe my feelings when I hear it. Fantastic arrangement. Amazing music. Only for those who know how to hear quality music. Gregg Stevens (born 1947) released this single " I'm so lucky / I don't have the right " in 1977 on ARBA Records. Both of these songs were included on the album called " I'm so lucky " which released on the same label at that time. Composed and produced by himself. It was very difficult to find info about Gregg Stevens.  Note: The above posted single is not played in full

Mark Harris - Sweet Kelly Lee

Image
Mark Harris is an unknown singer. Hearing the songs " Sweet Kelly Lee " and the other side of a vinyl record called " Your love (makes everything all right) " seems that he is a blue-eyed soul singer. I have seen another singer called Mark Harris of Contemporary Christian music but I don't know if he is the same singer. This record was released on Special Records Co from New York. I chose to present you the song " Sweet Kelly Lee ". Composed by Lucky Dixon and James McNary. Arranged and conducted by James MacNary. I want to note that the songwriters John "Lucky" Dixon was born in 1927 and James "Jimmy Mack" McNary was born in 1946. John "Lucky" Dixon has written many songs for the gospel music in the 80s. James "Jimmy Mack" McNary James "Jimmy Mack" McNary collaborated with a pianist of jazz music called LaMont Johnson. At that time he was co-owner of a record label Down East Records. Note:...

Vallee - After Last Night

Image
This song was written by saxophonist Jeff Kartak in 1978. Jeff Kartak was born in 1950 (Jeff sadly died one year ago). I don't know if he ever released this song for himself, but the song " After last night " by an unknown female singer called  Vallee is an extremely rare single and fabulous song. It was recorded at Santa Barbara Sound Recording, California. Santa Barbara Sound Recording was incorporated in 1979 and is currently not active. This single " After last night / Listen to my side too " was released on Vallee Records probably in 1979. Arranged by Jeff Kartak. Produced by Jeff Kartak and Vallee. It is worthy to note that Jeff Kartak was member of the band "Big Island" for a short time in the early 70s. The band consisted of six members at that time. He was playing saxophone and was also doing vocals. It was a jazz-rock band. Note: The above posted single is not played in full

Cecilio - Cecilio 1983 Lp

Image
Cecilio David Rodriguez is an artist who became known for his collaboration in a duet with a Hawaiian musician called Henry Kapono. Cecilio Rodriguez was born and raised in Santa Barbara, California. He formed his first band during high school years. Later he moved to Los Angeles. In L.A. he met with Little Antony who was the lead singer of the group The Imperials. Cecilio played guitar and helped the group  as musical director. They collaborated for a number of years. Cecilio later joined the group called Proverty Train. They toured Hawaii as a group. He had the chance to  meet the Hawaiian musician called Henry Kapono. Soon both of the musicians agreed to team up and so the musical duo Cecilio & Kapono was born. They released four albums until 1981 where at that time the duo broke up and Cecilio Rodriguez chose a solo career. In 1983 Cecilio Rodriguez released an album which was released in Japan on WoodRell Records. I want to note that Cecilio doesn't mention this a...

Sugar - Happy Birthday

Image
I presented this song when I had celebrated the second anniversary of my website. But today I will show you more details about this project. I want to thank Gary Curtis Culpepper for all his info and for his help to me. Sugar was an obscure studio group which worked this project along with the producer, arranger, songwriter and singer Gary Curtis Culpepper (born 1954). Gary Curtis Culpepper has written songs for the famous group Kool & The Gang in the 80s. I think that this particular song called " Happy Birthday " deserved more recognition. Most of the people know another song " Happy Birthday " by Stevie Wonder. However I believe that this song is as nice as Stevie Wonder's. I hope from today some radios in Europe or USA will learn this song and will play it on the radios. The lead singer of the group was Terry Day Rogers (sadly has died). Larry Conley on saxophone (played sax for the group Townsend, Townsend, Townsend & Rogers and Surface),  Re...

Sting - Pleasure 1978 Lp

Image
Sting was an obscure soul/funk group which released one and only one album in 1978 on ABC Records. Members of the group were Eugene Pitt , Richard Harrris and two girls Janae and Sheila . Eugene Pitt and Richard Harris previously were members of the known group Jive Five . Perhaps ABC didn't give it enough promotion. Perhaps the radio producers didn't play this album enough. It is not a fantastic album but it is better than other albums which received more recognition. Produced by Jay Ellis who previously was manager of Jive Five. My favorite fantastic song is entitled " Do it in the shower ". Composed by D.J.Michaels and Lester Hodelin. I want to mention that this song was released as a single entitled " Do it in the shower / Theme from brat " on Midsong International Records in 1979. " Theme from brat " is a Psychedelic soul  instrumental which was not included on the album in 1978. Today it is an extremely rare single. It is worthy to n...

Buba and Bear - Maybe we could fall in love 1982

Image
David Schindler has worked for over 30 years as a composer, orchestrator, piano and trumpet player. He has produced 25 albums and singles and is the author of over 100 published pop tunes. In 1981 David wrote and produced the JUNO nominated album " One Woman Show " for Rita Johns. The single " A Little Bit of Love " went top 10 in Canada which released as a 7 incher (short version) in 1980 on Jingle Machine Records. I want to mention that eight months ago I was the first blogger in the world , who presented the fantastic song " A Little Bit Of Love " (long version) which was included on the album " One Woman Show " by Rita Johns. A year later David Schindler and Rita Johns wrote a song entitled " Maybe we could fall in love " which was released on Jingle Machine Records (JMR) under the name Buba & Bear . It was recorded at Round Sound, Toronto. Produced and arranged by David Schindler. Female vocals by Rita Johns....
