Steve Grayson - Lovin' my baby

Image
This time, I decided to present a different record compared to my previous articles. This record is not modern soul, but the sound is very nice. Steve Grayson was an unknown singer. He released this single " Lovin my baby / Before our world fell through " on his own label named Grayson Productions from Ohio. However this release is not the first, because the  Grayson Brothers had released both songs on Rat Fink Productions . I have never heard samples from the Grayson Brothers. I want to note that there is and a third release by another singer called Bobby Remb on BR Productions. The music of Bobby Remb is similar with Steve Grayson. Note: The above posted single is not played in full

Acey McCone is back on music

--> About two years ago I had the opportunity to present an ultra rare record entitled " Nobody (Makes me feel like you do) / Angel " which was released on Harbor Records in the 80s. This record has been released under the name Randy Cone . His real name is Acey McCone . He stands out with his deep voice and with his gifted talent as a composer. Nowadays he lives in Nashville composing music. Sometimes he sings songs which fit with his voice. I had the pleasure to speak with him. I'm very happy that I met him, because he is a great person. He gave me the opportunity to hear several new songs written by him. I'm very impressed with two songs. Hearing these songs the feeling was different. Both songs were performed by the jazz singer called Jaimee Paul . Jaimee Paul was raised in Southern Illinois and was involved in the church choir. Paul has been influenced by Gospel and Blues. She left her home town for Nashville Tennessee to study

--> This record is one of my favorites. If I remember right, I saw it for first time on ebay in 2005. Then I was always trying to find it without any success. In the late 2009 I bought it. However, my copy is not very good. I could not play the flip-side, the instrumental version.  In this label called Atkins All-Stars Recording  only a few singles have been released. It is worthy to note that about two years ago, I presented a rare record by Joseph Stubbs on the same label. Joseph Stubbs was the younger brother of Levi Stubbs, lead singer of The Four Tops. It is very difficult to find info about Star Fire and The Atkins All Stars . In fact Star Fire and The Atkins All Stars were two different bands. Star Fire on vocals and The Atkins All Stars on music. They released a single under the direction of Curtis Atkins, entitled " Oh Baby " in 1981 . This great soulful song was written by Pamela Pierce and Darcell Brown . Produced by Curtis Atkins. I mu
