The Dynamic Upsetters - Once or twice


The Dynamic Upsetters was another soul group from North Carolina on the “Beach Music” scene like “The Entertainers” and “Clifford Curry” as they were also presented previously on this blog. The group was formed in 1963. Until 1978 the group remained a live touring band. The Dynamic Upsetters released some singles in the late 70s. One of them is entitled “Try me / Make myself clear” in 1979 on Mega Sound Studios. On the same label, it was released another single called "Tricky Chic / Love changes".


Here today I’m posting another 7” single entitled “Once or twice / I want a man to shag with me” on CPI records.
In fact the song “Once or twice”, was also re-recorded by Dorothy Moore in 1979 and Clifford Curry in 1980.



In the 80s the group appeared in various clubs and recorded a few singles under the name W.J.Moore & The Dynamic Upsetters.

The Muglestons - The Muglestons 1977 Lp

The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). Sir James Randolph - The Sophisticated Funk of James Randolph 1981 Lp

Sir James Randolph was born in Brewton Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he moved to New York where he attended and graduated from Long Island University. He started to sing in night clubs throughout the city. Then he was involved into Theater, Television & Film. Performing in Las Vegas and around the world, Sir James Randolph has become one of the most celebrated performers. Sir James Randolph made his only Broadway appearance as Sky Masterson in the 1976 all black company of " Guys and Dolls "   along   with   Robert Guillaume as Nathan Detroit,   Norma Donaldson as Miss Adelaide ,  Ernestine Jackson as Sarah Brown." Guys and Dolls " is a musical and was directed and choreographed by Billy Wilson. This production featured Motown-style musical arrangements by Danny Holgate and Horace Ott and direction by Billy Wilson. The show closed on February 13, 1977 after 239 performances and 12 previews.
