John Rowles - Rhythm of the city 1980

Although my article is about John Rowles and the album " Rhythm of the city ", I must mention some words about my favorite composers, H.B.Barnum and Walter Johnson . Since a long time ago, I have been collecting vinyls which include songs that were written by H.B.Barnum and Walter Johnson. Some of them are O.C.Smith album of 1982, Louis Dyer 45" ,  Waymond Hall 45" , Maurice Davis 45" and John Rowles album of 1980. Of course there are more records either rare or not  in which H.B.Barnum and Walter Johnson are composers. John Rowles was born on 26th March 1947 in Whatakane and raised in Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty. He started to sing at the age of ten years old. At the age of 16 years old, he started to play guitar at a club.  John's first release as a solo singer was released in 1966. Later he tried to enter in the British market. The Muglestons - The Muglestons 1977 Lp

The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). This album was the second album from the Mugleston Family. The group sold nearly 2000 copies. The album was produced by Darwin Lamm. Arranged by Ken Harrison. Vocal arranged by Desiree Mugleston. Brainstorm - Journey to the light 1978

Brainstorm was a 70s funk group from Detroit. They started in 1976 and recorded for Tabu Records. One of their members, Renell Gonsalves , was the son of longtime Ellington sax great Paul Gonsalves. Other members were great vocalist Belita Karen Woods , Charles Overton , Jeryl Bright (was member of the group Cameo and MCB), Larry H. Sims , Gerald Kent , Trenita Womack , E. Lamont Johnson (released an album in 1978 on Tabu records “ Music of the Sun ), and Willie Wooten . They made a good inspirational/message track in 1977, " Wake Up and Be Somebody ," but enjoyed their biggest hit later that year in " Lovin' Is Really My Game ." It reached number 14 on the R&B charts. In 1978 they recorded second album entitled “ Journey to the light ” (#53 on Billboard's R&B albums).
