Bobby Broom, Athens January (24 to 26), at Half Note Jazz Club


Hello my friends. Some days ago, I had the great pleasure to meet in person, the renowned guitarist Bobby Broom. He came to Athens in order to take part in two events. The first one was on Saturday in January 2025, 25th. In fact it was a seminar at Musikarama. The place is a music school in which musicians from Greece learn their first steps in the music. I want to thank the very talented musician, Konstantinos Stouraitis who gave me an invitation.
    I went there with two vinyls. I was determined to show him these vinyls. One of them was his first album under the direction of the amazing Dave Grusin.


The second album that I showed to Bobby Broom, is a jazz album from Japan. In fact this album was the third album that he sang during his career. I was impressed with him because he immediatelly remembered the song. I had the opportunity to present it on my radio show in 2018. Several friends and lovers of jazz music who listen to my show, ran to buy this album. And now it was re-released in CD in 2022 and vinyl again in 2023.


As I previously mentioned, Bobby Broom came to Athens in order to appear in two events. The other event was 3 live concerts at Half Note Jazz Club. It is a well-known jazz club in Athens among the fans of jazz music. I wouldn't lose the opportunity to enjoy one of his live shows. I went on Sunday and it was the third ongoing live performance. Joining him on stage was the acclaimed Greek jazz organist-pianist George Kontrafouris and drummer Jason Wastor. After the show I patiently waited to meet again and discuss with him. Several Greek musicians had come there to enjoy him.

I bought this 12" for 11 pounds in 1996 from England. However, I was wrong about it. In fact, I wanted to buy Arnie's Love . I got lucky. After 12 years I sold it for over 300$. Ceasar Elloie - New Orleans to Paris 2010

Wow!!! Ladies and gentlemen, today I'm presenting one of the best albums in 2010. I decided to present this album because in a few days the year will finish. In this way I want to honour this artist and his great album. Ceasar Elloie is the "Caesar" of soul and jazz music with a great deep-voice. He was born in 1953 and raised in the city of New Orleans. As a young kid his favorite toy was his voice. Later around at the age of 14, he discovered that his mother was a clone of Aretha Franklin as she kept music playing at all times in their home. They mostly listened to Johnny Mathis, Lou Rawls, Nancy Wilson, Dionne Warwick, Otis Redding, James Brown and just everybody whose music was out there.
