The Forthcoming Release Of Izipho Soul Records.

Hello my friends. I want to thank Patrick Biggerstaff for mentioning me for the forthcoming release of Izipho Soul Records on his Facebook page. I want to mention some things about how the story started in order to release this record 45.
On June 28th, I had the great pleasure of revealing first to all the lovers of soul, gospel and jazz quality music on my radio show, the great song "The Touch Of The Master's Hand" by Roland Gresham before its release. I earned this privilege because I was the man who helped the release of this record in the summer. I discovered this song in 2025 and then I decided to take a step ahead. I started looking for information about this guitarist. I managed to find his website and I came in contact with Roland himself. He delayed to respond to me but one day I received his message. I had the opportunity to ask him some details about this song and some more for his career. He sent me this magnificent song in wav format in order to play it on my show. At the same time I bought 2 CDs of Roland Gresham.
In this way, I played it on my radio show on the web radio Coni-OnAir, on February 8th. Patrick Biggerstaff from Izipho Soul Records listened live to my show. I have to note that I had already helped him for a few releases on Izipho Soul Records. Most of them I had played first on my show. I will mention a few of them record 45, such as Kip Carmen, Lou Watson, Freddie Chavez, Ronald Foster, Lee Mays as Percy Mays and others. Patrick asked me about this song because he didn't recognize his name during the show. And then, I brought him in contact with Roland himself. So, they made a deal to release the song "The Touch Of The Master's Hand" on record 45. We kept in touch during the months by the moment that reached the release of the record.

So, as I told you on June 28th, I presented the show. I had the pleasure to present some tracks as a tribute to the guitarist, Roland Gresham. One of the songs that I played on that day was ‘Gossip Christ’. This song came about after the discussion between Roland and I. It is about a gospel song with Lynn Gordon Myers on outstanding vocals. The song inspired Patrick in order to suggest it to Roland in the prospect of releasing in record 45. After the big success of the first release of "The Touch Of The Master's Hand" since the record 45 became sold out and sought-after, they made a new deal. The forthcoming release in the next few weeks will include the remix of "The Touch Of The Master's Hand" created by Phil Ward and the song ‘Gossip Christ’.

‘Gossip Christ’ was recorded in 2003 and included in the CD "Gospel Jazz Collection". Lynn Gordon Myers on the outstanding vocals. Roland told me that she has sung on a couple of his CDs, but no recordings of her own. Now it is going to be released in the next few weeks by Izipho Soul Records. I feel excited and happy. Of course, I want to thank Roland Gresham for giving me the opportunity to play these tracks on my show in June. For those who want to listen to this show, you can do it here below.

John Rowles - Rhythm of the city 1980

Image
Although my article is about John Rowles and the album " Rhythm of the city ", I must mention some words about my favorite composers, H.B.Barnum and Walter Johnson . Since a long time ago, I have been collecting vinyls which include songs that were written by H.B.Barnum and Walter Johnson. Some of them are O.C.Smith album of 1982, Louis Dyer 45" ,  Waymond Hall 45" , Maurice Davis 45" and John Rowles album of 1980. Of course there are more records either rare or not  in which H.B.Barnum and Walter Johnson are composers. John Rowles was born on 26th March 1947 in Whatakane and raised in Kawerau in the Bay of Plenty. He started to sing at the age of ten years old. At the age of 16 years old, he started to play guitar at a club.  John's first release as a solo singer was released in 1966. Later he tried to enter in the British market. The first release in England was released in 1968. In the early 70s he also toured in various countries s...
