While I was thinking of what I can present, I decided to write an article that it is not rare but it is very interesting. All the fans of soul music know the great Gene Chandler. I could speak many days for him. However I suggest you to see about him in  wikipedia . Although the song " Please you tonight " is not one of my favorites, it is very nice. In fact this song is the flip-side of " Lucy ". It was released as a single entitled " Lucy / Please you tonight " on FastFire Records in 1986. Both of these songs were included on the album " Your love looks good on me " which was released on the same label a year ago. I have been looking for this record, if I remember right since 2009. Finally I was lucky and I found it. Pauls People was an obscure group from Canada. They released a few disco singles in various labels from Canada. One of them was released under the name Pauls People featuring Arta Abele  entitled " I want you boy / Summer fun " in Blue Chip Records. It also entered on Canada charts in the late 1979. It was recorded at Zaza Sound Toronto, probably in 1979 and it was released in the same year as a single. It was produced by the great Paul Zaza. Paul Zaza is a versatile composer who has over 175 feature films and television series. I have chosen the B side entitled " Summer fun " and was written by Doug Wass . Jonathan Potenciano is a great singer who started from Philippines in the late 60s. Later he continued in Hawaii and now he is one of Las Vegas's favorites for almost 20 years. His show was voted as " The Best Lounge Show in Vegas " by BMA (Black Music Award) in 2011. From the mid 80s to nowadays, he appeared in many various hotels in Las Vegas. The voice of Jonathan is amazing. He has recorded and released many 45" singles and six albums. One of them entitled " I've got love " which was released on Tremmor Records in the late 70s. Today I decided to present a great song. Although I presented Lynda Seals two years ago, all the people have to hear and learn the song " This is where love begins ". I think it deserved more recognition and success. What an unbelievable surprise! I love it, I love it. This article is a big surprise for all those who think that they know all about soul music. I always believed that Arthur Prysock had recorded something rare and very nice after the albums in the late 70s. So, I discovered this single entitled " Goldmine / My song of love " on Old Town Records. It was released in 1981. In fact it is the last one 45" of Arthur's career. Southern Cookin was an obscure soul / funk group who released one and only album on Polydor Records in 1979. Southern Cookin were Jimmy Jules , Gene Williams , Ronnie Dents , Alosia Joseph and Ann Johnson . Many collectors and fans of soul and funk music know Jimmy Jules from the mid 70s when he released an album entitled " Xtmas done got funky " under the name Jimmy Jules And The Nuclear Soul System with Jackie Spencer on his own label called Jim Gem Records .  At that time he also released a single entitled " The New Year / It's impossible " on his own label. Yes I know. This article is not rare. Everyone can find this song. However, the song " Seaside vibes " by the group Brick ,  I think it is one of the best soul/jazz/funk songs. I always wanted to present this song on my blog. It was included on the 1981 album entitled " Summer Heat " in 1981 on Bang Records. As I remember, I bought this album, between 2002-2003 in Athens. Several years later, I also bought the 12 incher entitled " Sweat (til you get wet) / Seaside vibes ". In fact this album that was the 5th album, is the best of Brick. It was recorded under the direction of the great Ray Parker J . Ray Parker Jr. was the producer. He also helped as a guitarist player and co-composer of some songs of the album. The lyrics of the song " Seaside Vibes " was written by Ray Ransom & Jimmy Brown and the music was written by Regi Hargis Hickman . Yuji Ohno is a japanese jazz musician. Ohno has composed great music for films and television series. He became known with the Japanese anime television series " Lupin III " specifically the 1977 series. At that time he released an album under the name Yuji Ohno & His Project   entitled " Proof of the man " on Atlantic Records in Japan.  At the same time " Proof of the man " was released as a single on the same label. I have chosen the instrumental version and not the vocal version because the instrumental version has a great sax tune. It was recorded at Sound City Studio & Mouri Studio in the late of June 1977. Quiet Fire was an obscure group from San Diego. The lead singer of the group was Willie Steel . Another member of the group was Bobby Turner . The group released two singles. The first single entitled " Lost (without your love) / Your kind of love " in 1977. It was released on The Hit Machine Records from San Diego. " Lost (without your love) " was written by Willie Steel. It was produced by Willie Steel and Marty Kuritz. Enjoy this rarity.
