Wendell Harrison - Rocket love 1982

Wendell Harrison is a Jazz saxophonist and clarinetist. He was born on October 1, 1942 in Detroit. He performed with Motown stars Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin. Shortly after in 1960 the young Harrison headed for New York. He began performing for some of the world’s premier jazz artists: guitarist Grant Green vocalist Eddie Jefferson, and the great Sun Ra. He teamed up with trumpeters Marcus Belgrave, Jimmy Owens and Howard Johnson to perform and tour with saxophonist Hank Crawford.
In 1970 he moved back to Detroit and became a session musician. Also he is the founder of some labels. He started the labels Tribe, Rebirth, and Wenha. He released many albums. After of two albums entitled "Organic Dream" and "Dreams Of a Love Supreme" he tried to record one more album. At the start he released single "No turnin' back / Rocket love" on his own label Wenha Records in 1982. The label of the vinyl mentions for the album "The Wendells Of Love" but I think that never released.

This single was recorded at the Wenha Studios, Detroit, Michigan. Wendell Harrison on tenor saxophone, percussion, synthesizer and lead vocals. Pamela D.Wise on piano and background vocals. Kurt Krahnke on bass, Michael Edwards on drums, Gale Benson on lead & rhythm guitar, Larry Fratangelo on percussion and Robert Pearson on hand claps. Also Miche Braden on background vocals. Vocal arrangements by Miche Braden, Wendell Harrison and Pamela D.Wise.
I chose the song "Rocket Love". First original recording by Stevie Wonder in 1980.
