Commodores - Painted picture 1982


I love this track. Not rare but very good. It is the first single without Lionel Richie and Thomas McClary. After the album "In the pocket" 1981, Lionel Richie left. His last single with The Commodores was "Why you wanna try me". Next year, Thomas McClary also left the group to pursue a solo career, recording one self-titled album for Motown. Motown released a Commodores collection entitled "All the great hits" to buy some time that included two new songs. "Painted picture"(featuring co-writer Harold Hudson singing and playing most of the instruments) and "Reach high" (sung by Kevin Smith, a Montgomery, Alabama native who has chosen at an Atlanta audition as the first, short-lived replacement for Lionel Richie). You can enjoy the track "painted picture" 1982 R&B#21 and Pop#25.

The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). Sir James Randolph was born in Brewton Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he moved to New York where he attended and graduated from Long Island University. He started to sing in night clubs throughout the city. Then he was involved into Theater, Television & Film. Performing in Las Vegas and around the world, Sir James Randolph has become one of the most celebrated performers. Sir James Randolph made his only Broadway appearance as Sky Masterson in the 1976 all black company of " Guys and Dolls "   along   with   Robert Guillaume as Nathan Detroit,   Norma Donaldson as Miss Adelaide ,  Ernestine Jackson as Sarah Brown." Guys and Dolls " is a musical and was directed and choreographed by Billy Wilson.
