Barbara Reed - This was meant to be 1985 Lp

She was born in Oak Park, IL (a suburb of Chicago), and lived in the Chicago area until she was ten. She played the piano as a kid, but at that time she intended to work as a singer.

At that age, she moved to Rhode Island with her family and stayed there until she was accepted into the prestigious Berklee College of Music in nearby Boston. She never expected to be a pianist. She started out singing recognazible songs in jazz, pop and R&B music. After graduating from Berklee, Reed decided to move in L.A. in 1975. She became active in Southern California's jazz scene, not only as a singer, but also as an acoustic pianist and electric keyboardist. 

In 1985 she released a rare jazz album entitled "This was meant to be" on Rare Sound Records. It was recorded at Gopher Baroque Recording Studio, Westminster, CA.

Llew Matthews on piano, organ, synthesizers, Tom Gargano and Max Bennett on bass, Randy White on drums, percussion, Victor Cardenas on percussion and Sam Riney on sax (tenor, alto and soprano).

Produced by herself. My favorite song is entitled "The tear returns to me". It was written by herself.

After "This was meant to be", she didn't record another album until the early 2000s. That was when she recorded the CD that accompanies her first novel, High Notes Are Murder. The early 2000s found Reed pursuing two careers: fiction writer and jazz singer/pianist.
