Timmy Thomas - Same ole song 1984

Image
Timmy Thomas (born 13 November 1944, Evansville, Indiana) was best known for the hit song, " Why Can't We Live Together " in late 1972. This disc sold over two million copies. He recorded five (5) albums. The last of them called " Gotta Give A Little Love (Ten Years After) " in 1984 on Gold Mountain Records. In this album were included two wonderful tracks entitled " My last affair " and " Same ole song ". " My last affair " Thomas released as a single on SRI Spector Records International in 1982. " Same ole song " Thomas released as a single on Gold Mountain Records in 1984 respectively. I have noticed that many radio producers don’t really play the song " Same ole song " on their radio show. It is unbelievable. In my opinion this song is a fantastic mid-tempo. Composed and produced by Lou Pace. Thomas appeared on Nicole McCloud's 1985 album " What About Me? ", singing a duet with her ca

Edna Wright - If the price is right

Edna Wright was born in L.A. in 1944. She is the younger sister of vocalist Darlene Love. Wright was a member of an L.A.-based vocal group called the Blossoms . In the '60s, Wright performed gospel with the Church of God in Christ Singers; Wright sang backup for various artists, including Ray Charles and the Righteous Brothers. And she also did some recordings as a solo artist in the '60s using the pseudonym Sandy Wynns. In 1969 she formed Honey Cone and hired Shellie Clark and Carolyn Willis. She released her first solo album entitled " Oops! Here I Go Again " on RCA Records. Produced by Greg Perry. Horn & string arrangements by H.B.Barnum and McKinley Jackson. I have chosen the fantastic track entitled " If the price is right " composed by Greg Perry and Angelo Bond. Sadly after that LP, Wright didn't record any other solo albums but she sang backing vocals for various pop, R&B and gospel artists. The exact year of release is not q

Freedom Express - Stolen pleasures 1982

Image
Freedom Express was an obscure soul group from Memphis. Some members of the group were Charles Brown, David Brewer, Reginal Brown and Archie Love. In the 70s Archie Love moved to Memphis and formed his own band " Freedom Express ". In 1981 they released 7 incher entitled " Stolen pleasures " which is one of the best ballads in the history of soul. It was released on Spirit Records a local Memphis label. Next year Freedom Express re-released the same single on Frills Records from Philadelphia as 7 incher and 12 incher. The 7 incher is ultra rare. Produced by Otho Sawyer and Freedom Express. Archie Love later recorded with the group “ The Main Attraction ”, which was signed by RCA records and released one album. In The Main Attraction Archie was a co-lead with Eric Shotwell. Tony DeCarlos Black was a keyboard player. The group was then signed to Motown and changed their name to The Right Choice (Archie, Eric and Tony) for one self-titled album. Not to be co
