Miche Braden on The Devil's Music (The Life And Blues Of Bessie Smith)


A musical by Angelo Parra. Musical Direction Miche Braden; Conceived and directed by Joe Brancato. Miche Braden stars as the legendary Bessie Smith. It’s 1937 and the final performance of Bessie, as the fiesty singer regales her audience with tales from her life, and many loves and losses. Miche Braden not only captures the soulful richness of the singing style of the “Empress of the Blues” and one of the greatest singers of her era, but the essence of her boozy, feisty personality.
“The Devil’s Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith" had its world premiere at Penguin Rep Theatre (Joe Brancato, Artistic Director, and Andrew Horn, Executive Director) in Stony Point, New York.

The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). Sir James Randolph was born in Brewton Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he moved to New York where he attended and graduated from Long Island University. He started to sing in night clubs throughout the city. Then he was involved into Theater, Television & Film. Performing in Las Vegas and around the world, Sir James Randolph has become one of the most celebrated performers. Sir James Randolph made his only Broadway appearance as Sky Masterson in the 1976 all black company of " Guys and Dolls "   along   with   Robert Guillaume as Nathan Detroit,   Norma Donaldson as Miss Adelaide ,  Ernestine Jackson as Sarah Brown." Guys and Dolls " is a musical and was directed and choreographed by Billy Wilson. This production featured Motown-style musical arrangements by Danny Holgate and Horace Ott and direction by Billy Wilson. The show closed on February 13, 1977 after 239 performances and 12 previews.
