Carter & Chanel - Together Forever / Don't Let Love Go 1981 (45')
Carter & Chanel are Al Carter & Pat Chanel. There is not much information about them. Pat Chanel is a lovely songstress and dancer. They recorded and released one and only album in 1980 on Sweet City Records from Cleveland, Ohio. Owner of the label was Carl Maduri. Some of the bands which released records on the same label were Wild Cherry and La Flavour. One more sought-after record 45' that was released on this label was by John Wilson in 1980.
The album includes the songs "Together Forever"and "Don't Let Love Go" which were included on the record 45' that was released a year later in 1981 on the same label, Sweet City Records. The song "Don't Let Love Go" was first recorded by Brian and Brenda Russell in 1977 and was included on the album "Supersonic Lover".
It is worthy to mention that in 1981 Carter & Chanel appeared in various clubs in New York and a year later they appeared at the Marriott in Pittsburgh. Together with them were the musicians C.J.Puhala on drums (who co-wrote the song "Together Forever"), Roger Kooser on piano and Larry Belli on guitar.
Drummer C.J. Puhala started with the Pittsburgh band Glory in 1968, opening for the likes of Rare Earth, Amboy Dukes, Jorge Santana, Grass Roots, Classics Four, and Little Feat. After attending Duquesne University in 1973, he joined BHQ, a funk/ show band that toured the country extensively until 1979. Post-BHQ in Los Angeles, Puhala joined Carter and Chanel, who recorded for MCA records and toured extensively throughout the U.S. Back in Pittsburgh, he has worked in jazz combos and with Vanilla Soul, Soul Village and Jimbo and the Soupbones.
