The Ferry Brothers - Til mornin' comes 1977

Two years ago, I presented Joe Ferry and the single entitled " I'm Sorry " on DawnSongs LTD Records. It was released in 1977. As I have already mentioned in the same year Joe Ferry along with his brother Bob Ferry released a single under the name The Ferry Brothers entitled " Til Mornin' Comes / Dawn " on the same label. Both of these songs were recorded at RCA Studios, NYC. Arranged and produced by Bob Ferry. I have chosen the song " Til Mornin' Comes ". It was written by Joe Ferry. Finally I want to mention that Joe Ferry released a single entitled " Follow my lead / Pretty lady ". It was released in the same year on the same label. Note: The above posted single is not played in full

Serenity - Tired Of This

Tyrone Dickerson Serenity was an obscure soul funk gospel band. The band was formed by the songwriter, singer Tyrone Dickerson . Some members of the band were Tyrone Dickerson, the guitarist  Phillip Ratliff  and the songwriter  Joseph   DuVal Ross .  Tyrone Dickerson became known as a songwriter. He has written songs for many artists. He has served as music director for Yolanda Adams and Ben Tankard . He has also collaborated with Regina Belle ,  Kirk Whalum, Twinkie Clark, Marvin Winans, Chicago Mass Choir and many others. The band probably released their first single in 1983 entitled " Tired Of This / Perfect Way ". Both of these songs were recorded at Solid Sound Recording Studio, Hoffman Estates, Il. I have chosen the great song entitled " Tired Of This ". Lyrics was written by Phillip Ratliff and DuVal Ross. Music was written by Phillip Ratliff. Performed by themselves. St.Clair Pinckney - Private Stock 1989 Lp

St.Clair Pinckney was a great saxophonist. He was born in 1930. He was a member of The James Brown Orchestra and The J.B.'s. He joined in the band in the early 70s and since he performed with this band. In the late 80s he released two albums on Ichiban Records entitled " Do you like it " in 1987 and " Private Stock " in 1989 respectively. Today I'm presenting the second album from 1989. This album was recorded at Sound Lab, Atlanta, GA. except for the song " From The Head " at The Hut, Augusta, GA. Some great musicians appeared in this album such as Alfred "Pee Wee" Ellis on tenor sax, Fred Wesley on trombone, Marc McCreary on keyboards. Also Tim Nash on drums,   Jean-Marc Porson on bass, Jack Linge on guitar, Ted Dortch on alto sax and Buzz Amato on keyboard solo. Produced by St.Clair Pinckney. Fats Gaines Orchestra - Plays Today And Yesterdays Lp

William Carl "Fats" Gaines was born in Coffeyville, Kansas. He has played trumpet and alto saxophone. Fats is mostly known for his leading ability. He organized his first group called Fats Noisy Seven  in elementary school . His career started during World War Two, in the 767th Army Air Force Band as a sousaphone player. He played trumpet in army swing band. In the 70s he formed a band called Fats Gaines Orchestra . The band featured in many Social Clubs in the Bay area such as The Knights of Honor , The Spiders , The Thirteen Charms , Los Amigos , C.B.Communicators , Metronomes , Fifty Sports Man's , The Jolly Glow , The Jolliets .  This band was one of the best big bands based in San Francisco. The members of the band were the same members for the past four and a half years. The band released his first album under the name Fats Gaines Orchestra plays Today and Yesterday on Avamar Records. Brenda Vaughn - Ready or not (I'm falling in love again)

Brenda Vaughn is a great singer from Oakland, California. She is also songwriter and music coordinator. She was born in 1958. She started singing at the age of 4. Later, she entered in the Gospel Jazz Choir of the Merrit College under the direction of Jackie Hairston . She started her professional career as a singer in several spots such as Dock of The Bay, Ivey’s In Jack London Square, Erles Solano Club, The Hyatt Regency and later Geoffrey’s Inner Circle. When she became known in her area, the label Pashlo Records spotted her and signed with her. In the early 80s she released her first single entitled " Ready or not (I'm falling in love again) / Nature's calling ". I want to note that " Ready or not (I'm falling in love again) " is one of my favorite songs. This great song was written by Richard McGowan , Chris Burns and Brenda Vaughn. Arnie's Love - Natural High 1986

Arnie C. Joseph aka “ The Gospel Teddy Bear ” ,who is half-brother of singer Toney Lee,  started his career as a drummer and played with The Commodores for one night in 1972. As a singer in the mid 70s he appeared in various clubs of New York. In the early 80s Arnie Joseph collaborated with Jeremiah Yisrael and released a few singles on Jeremiah Yisrael's label called  Tap Records . Arnie Joseph released an EP under the name  Arnie Love  entitled " Break out / Heaven really knows / Stop and make up your mind " in 1981. At the same time he released a 7-inch as Arnie Love & The Loveletts entitled " We had enough / Break out " on the same label .  Finally at that time, he released an EP as  Arnie Love & The Loveletts  entitled " Invisible Wind / Me,Myself & I / We Had Enough " on the same label. Clarence Mann - Come what may 1985

Clarence Mann is a great singer from Alabama. He graduated from Stillman College, Alabama. He began writing and performing at an early age. He was 14 years old, when he completed his first recording with a high school choral group on the RCA Record Label. After high school, he sang with various bands and vocal groups while attending college. He began his commercial career with T&M Productions. In 1973 he released his first single entitled " Man's Temptation / Have Faith In Me " on T&M Records from Alabama. Two years later, he released two singles on Gram-O-Phon Inc. entitled " Please accept my love " and " You met your match " respectively. After his solo career, he joined the group called " True Image " as lead vocalist. The group was formed by James Terry in 1977. He was their manager. He is a great composer, producer, singer, guitarist and label owner from Charlotte, NC. He appeared strongly on the stage of soul music in the early 70s along with his own band called Choice of Colour . The members of the group were Ron Henderson Sr, Reese Palmer , Wilbur Stewart (Wes),   Johnny Johnson and William Britton . In 1972 Choice Of Colour released a single entitled " You're twenty-one today / Your love " on APT Records. The label was a subsidiary of ABC Records. ABC Records used this label to release exclusively the singles. In 1974 Ron along with late Chester Simmons formed a label called Choice Records . The same year Ron released a single entitled " Bad sign " on his own label. This song was written by himself. The last two years some collectors have been looking for the album " Let it be me " by Sylvester Smith III . They are mainly interested in the song " I'll do it all for you ". Sylvester Smith III is a great performer. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama, but he was raised in Oklahoma City. He has released six albums and a number of singles. All his albums were released under the label called Empac Records . In 1983 he released the album " Let it be me ". It was recorded at Star Track Studio, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The best song of the album is " I'll do it all for you ". It is strange that Sylvester Smith III doesn't know the composers of this song. For this reason Sylvester Smith III mentions on his site that the composers are unknown. This song was written by Roger Cook and Stephen Allen Davis . However a few people really know that the original recording of " I'll do it all for you " went out  by Johnny Mathis and Paul...

The Embers are one of the most popular bands of beach music scene. The band was started in 1958 by Bobby Tomlinson and Jackie Gore . The Embers have released eighteen albums and numerous singles. In 1982 the group released an album entitled " This one's for you " on Ripete Records. At that time members of the group were  Johnny Barker  on keyboards and vocals,  Gerry Davis  on bass,  Jackie Gore  on guitar and vocals,  Johnny Hopkins  on trumpet, Bobby Tomlinson on drums and  Craig Woodlard  on sax. Additional musicians were Tony Hayes and Don "Cannonball" McClure on baritone and alto sax, Ziad Rable on tenor sax, Doug Burns and Don Eisamann on trumpet, Jeppy White and Brad Kelly on trombone, David Brussel on french horn, David "Bongo" Newson on congas and percussion.
