Philippe Wynne


Philippe Wynne grew up in a gospel environment, later becoming a member of the Bootsy Collins group The Pacesetters in 1968. The following year he became a member of James's Brown group The JB's where he stayed for two years. In 1971 he became the lead singer of THE DETROIT SPINNERS, taking the group on to a string of hits including 'I'll Be Around' and 'Could It Be I'm Falling In Love'. He remained with them until 1977 when he signed to the Cotillion label as a solo artist. Here he released 'Starting All Over' (1977) before teaming up with George Clinton to tour and record with Funkadelic on '(Not Just) Knee Deep'. The album was not promoted. Produced and rhythm arrangements by himself.

In 1980, Philippe released 'Wynne Jammin' on the Uncle Jam label. Produced by George Clinton and Ron Dunbar. Strings and horns arranged by Paul Riser and Tony Camillo.

A year later Philippe sang for Gene Dunlap. He sang wonderful track entitled "Something inside my head" on Capitol records. Produced by Gene Dunlap.





In 1983 he released a single entitled "You Ain't Going Anywhere But Gone". This song was written and produced by Bunny Sigler and released by Sugarhill Records. Then Sugarhill released an album entitled 'Philippe Wynne' on Sylvia Robinson's label in 1984.

Sadly on July 14, 1984, while performing a concert in Oakland, California, Wynne suffered a fatal heart attack, at the age of 43.

Without a doubt Philippe Wynne was a beautiful though, unfortunately, late discovery for me. He truly had one of the most beautiful voices and was not really appreciated for his talent.

The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). Sir James Randolph was born in Brewton Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he moved to New York where he attended and graduated from Long Island University. He started to sing in night clubs throughout the city. Then he was involved into Theater, Television & Film. Performing in Las Vegas and around the world, Sir James Randolph has become one of the most celebrated performers. Sir James Randolph made his only Broadway appearance as Sky Masterson in the 1976 all black company of " Guys and Dolls "   along   with   Robert Guillaume as Nathan Detroit,   Norma Donaldson as Miss Adelaide ,  Ernestine Jackson as Sarah Brown." Guys and Dolls " is a musical and was directed and choreographed by Billy Wilson. This production featured Motown-style musical arrangements by Danny Holgate and Horace Ott and direction by Billy Wilson. The show closed on February 13, 1977 after 239 performances and 12 previews.
