Michael Henderson - Goin' places 1977

Vocalist/bassist Michael Henderson has enjoyed successful careers as a player and performer. He moved from Yazoo City, Mississippi to Detroit in the early '60s, and was a session player. As a 13-year-old, Henderson played bass with the Fantastic Four, Detroit Emeralds, Billy Preston, and other Motown acts in 1964 and 1965. He later toured with Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin before joining Miles Davis. Henderson played and toured with Davis for seven years. When he met drummer/producer Norman Connors, Henderson pitched him some songs. Connors recorded "Valentine Love" on his Saturday Night Special LP, featuring Henderson with Jean Carne. This was his vocal debut, and it reached number ten on the R&B chart. Henderson wrote two other hits for the LP, "We Both Need Each Other" and "You Are My Starship," which peaked at number four. Those successes landed Henderson his own Buddah deal in 1976. He recorded the first solo album in 1976 entitled “Solid” on the same label. The next year he recorded the second album on Buddah records entitled “Goin’ places”. From this album I have chosen two tracks entitled "Goin' places" and "Won't you be mine". The Muglestons was a five-member family group which appeared in various places with artists such as Frank Sinatra, Pat Henry, Judy Lynn, Barbara Mandrell, Bob Hope and Charlie Rich. It has also appeared on the " Merv Griffin Show ". In addition,  it was possibly one of the first musical groups to perform on Dick Clark's " American Bandstand " without a recording. The group has started singing together since the late 60s. They consisted by the brothers and sister  Bob , Blaine , Troy , Lance and Desiree . In the mid 70s the group signed with the Mike Curb's label, called AOA. In 1977 the group released an album on ECI (Entertainment Consultants International). Sir James Randolph was born in Brewton Alabama. After leaving Alabama, he moved to New York where he attended and graduated from Long Island University. He started to sing in night clubs throughout the city. Then he was involved into Theater, Television & Film. Performing in Las Vegas and around the world, Sir James Randolph has become one of the most celebrated performers. Sir James Randolph made his only Broadway appearance as Sky Masterson in the 1976 all black company of " Guys and Dolls "   along   with   Robert Guillaume as Nathan Detroit,   Norma Donaldson as Miss Adelaide ,  Ernestine Jackson as Sarah Brown." Guys and Dolls " is a musical and was directed and choreographed by Billy Wilson. This production featured Motown-style musical arrangements by Danny Holgate and Horace Ott and direction by Billy Wilson. The show closed on February 13, 1977 after 239 performances and 12 previews.
